Breast Prosthesis Surgery

Many women believe that their breasts are small, underdeveloped, or asymmetrical. Sometimes they think that they don’t have attractive breasts as they should. In some women, the shape of the breasts changes after pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding, and this problem reduces their self-confidence, so they choose breast prosthesis surgery. Many women undergo breast augmentation surgery to achieve the desired shape and size of their breasts. This surgery is performed by placing the prosthesis behind the natural breast tissue of women. Prostheses are breast-shaped bags filled with silicone gel or saline. They are placed above or below the pectoralis major muscle to improve the appearance of the breast.Breast prosthesis surgery is one of the surgeries that are performed with the aim of enlarging the breasts using various types of prostheses. This surgery helps to improve the lost volume of the breasts after pregnancy or weight loss and make the shape of the breasts more beautiful and improve the symmetry of the breasts. But using the wrong technique or the wrong type of breast prosthesis can cause the surgery to fail. Even in many cases, it is necessary to change the breast prosthesis due to the failure of the surgery. If the prostheses of new generations and of good quality are used, they do not need to be changed routinely, unless they have problems with the passage of time, or the breasts droop over time and the breasts themselves need to be corrected.

Fat injection for breast enlargement

In this method, it is possible to increase the volume of the breast with a natural appearance, as well as liposuction of the whole body at the same time. The specialist takes fat from an area of the body such as the abdomen, thighs or arms and transfers it to the breasts and injects it.

With the technique of injecting fat into the breasts, there is no need for saline or silicone implant surgery to enlarge the breasts. In this technique, the fat removed by liposuction is re-injected into the breasts to increase breast volume. The injected fat is a living tissue and causes breast enlargement with a very natural appearance.

Who are the right candidates for breast augmentation with fat transfer?

Breast fat injection can be ideal for women who:

*Their chest size is very small or medium.
*Breast asymmetry.
*Empty and small breasts after pregnancy or several periods of pregnancy.
*Patients who have undergone mastectomy due to breast cancer.
Women who need this breast reconstruction procedure are usually people who don’t want to have silicone implants in their body because they feel it is unnatural and may have long-term consequences. Another advantage of this technique is that it will not leave any significant scars on the breasts.

But remember that your expectation of breast implant surgery should be realistic. Because this breast enlargement method has limitations compared to the silicone prosthesis method. For women who have a history of breast cancer in their family, it is not recommended to perform this type of surgery. Because there is a possible problem in the diagnosis of breast cancer that occurs after breast fat injection, in the sense that it is possible to follow fat injection inside the breast. Calcium precipitates. At the same time, calcium deposition is the first and most important sign of breast cancer in breast imaging (mammography). So, in a person who has had fat injection into the breast, if we see a calcium deposit in the mammogram, we immediately face a dilemma between whether this calcium deposit is due to the fat injection or the patient has breast cancer. In America, after years of investigation, some skilled radiologists found the necessary to diagnose these two problems.

And as a result, in 2010, the American Association of Plastic Surgeons allowed breast fat injection by mentioning special precautions, but it does not seem that the experiences in this case are currently to the extent that it is possible to distinguish calcium deposition caused by breast fat injection with high accuracy. Calcium caused by breast cancer was diagnosed. Therefore, despite our interest in breast fat injection, we currently do not recommend fat injection for breast enlargement, but we have used fat injection a lot for restorative applications (such as helping the symmetry of the breasts or increasing the thickness of the tissue).
